The D.R.A.W.'s Affordable Art Show

From December 9th to December 12th, the D.R.A.W. is showing an Affordable Art Show. It features artworks from local artists who have worked with, taught with, and learned from the D.R.A.W. over the years. A major component of the show are prices within a more manageable range for the average person compared to the steep prices you may see in a more typical art exhibition. What’s more, you’ll be supporting local artists and taking home incredible artwork when you come and make a purchase. Even if you’re not compelled to buy anything, the display of art is so vast and varied, that you’re certain to enjoy what you see. Below are just a portion of the artwork you can see. Make sure to stop by at the D.R.A.W. at 22 Iwo Jima Lane by December 12th to see this show before it’s gone!

Izzy Reed’s work is highly expressive. The linework and mark making is all so well-articulated and intentional. The graphics within her images are thoughtful and engaging, advocating for the time and effort by just being a finished product.

Paul Soule’s deep understanding of watercolor painting brings out the freshness and color of the produce in his paintings. The misty skin and provocative lighting make them good enough to eat, at least invoking cravings of fresh food.

Amy Fenton’s collage and oil painting produce stunning imagery and rustic colors. She evokes nature and strength, both with the sturdy branches of a tree and with the powerful silhouettes of people.

Richie Green’s iconic acrylic paintings capture the vibrant scenery of the city of Kingston, with love and meticulous attention to nature and architecture. The scenes he creates are visually striking, like a great view you just can’t get over.

Erin Dougherty’s work is fashioned with whimsy and liveliness. Stemming from a deep well of imaginative spirit, she creates sculptures and drawings with youthful charm and mature glamour. It helps that her use of pink is so tasteful too.

Kylie Williams flexes her innate understanding of multiple mediums and elegantly applies them to provocative imagery that engages with mystery and intrigue. This work is just one of multiple that will keep your brain busy and interested.

Beth Humphrey demonstrates the power of geometry and abstract figures. Her series of houses convey senses of nostalgia, isolation, and distance. They have the weightlessness and dreamlike feeling of celestial bodies, beautiful and ethereal.

Lillian Nelson’s work is built on a foundation of soul and light. Bright, warm colors permeate her art and exude joy. The warmth of her artwork extends to vibrant abstract shapes and the friendly faces of different animals.
